Jaspaul Bains, Owner, Bains Ag LLC and first year ALP Mentor

Q. How are you involved in the almond industry?
A. My family has been in the farming industry for several decades and it has always been an exciting part of my life. Growing up, helping in the fields and learning the process of farming created a passion for me. After college, I started to help run the family farming business (almonds/peaches) and expanded the operation. I created a company named Bains Ag LLC to offer a one stop shop for almonds; farming, managing, harvesting and trucking almonds.

Q. How did you get involved with the Almond Leadership Program and how many years have you been a mentor?
A. I got involved with the Almond Leadership Program through my almond industry friends. Many of my industry friends completed the program and had great experiences to share. I completed the program and was honored to be a mentor. I have been a mentor for one year.

Q. What is your favorite part of being a mentor in the Almond Leadership Program?
A. My favorite part of being a mentor on the Almond Leadership Program is to meet new people and share my experiences about the program.

Q. What is your favorite memory during your time as a mentor?
A. My favorite memory as a mentor was meeting up with my mentee for the first time at a restaurant, we both drive by frequently. The first meeting went so well, it has led to a tradition to meet up every couple weeks to catch up and unwind after a long day.

Q. What advice do you have for new almond leaders?
A. My advice for new almond leaders is to be open to new ideas and new experiences. The almond industry is changing daily and having a great network helps grow and overcome challenges.

Q. How do you like to eat almonds?
A. I like to eat my almonds raw, crushed up in my cereal for breakfast.
