Golf Tournament Hits Southern Links in April

Published 3/26/2026

The 2026 Annual Golf Tournament – South, put on by the Almond Leadership Program (ALP), is back Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Dragonfly Golf Club in Madera, bringing the almond community together for a day of golf, networking and support for the next generation of agricultural leaders. Proceeds from the tournament benefit the California FFA Foundation, helping provide student scholarships for young people pursuing education and careers in agriculture.

Golfers of all skill levels are invited to join. Registration opens at 6:30 a.m. with breakfast burritos, followed by an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start. Tournament registration includes green fees, breakfast and lunch.

Prizes will be awarded for the top three teams and best score, along with contests for longest drive, closest to the pin and a 50/50 raffle.

Connor Pate, 2026 tournament co-chair, said his helping to lead the tournament was a natural fit, combining his professional background and his interest in service.

“My job allows me to work in both agricultural and commercial industries as we sell and service equipment to golf courses throughout California,” he said. “I also had previous experience fundraising with other non-profit organizations during my time at Chico State. It felt like a no brainer for me to work alongside Natalie in heading up a golf tournament.”

As a former FFA member, Pate said the cause is also personal.

“In high school, I was a member of Visalia’s Redwood High School FFA program and was able to see how much students benefited and enjoyed the program,” he said. “It is important for us to support and encourage ag education for the next generation of professionals who will be joining us in the field.”

Natalie Kidd, 2026 tournament co-chair, shared the same sentiment.

“I find it incredibly important to give back to the community that shaped me, and this is an excellent opportunity to do that,” she said. “As a four-year Modesto FFA member and a state degree recipient, I have been given so many wonderful experiences and opportunities through the program.”

She encouraged industry members to take part. “I would like to encourage anyone within the almond industry, or who is involved in agriculture as a whole, to come out and enjoy a great day of networking with other professionals,” Kidd said. “It is a wonderful opportunity to support California FFA while enjoying the course at Dragonfly.”

There are multiple ways to participate by registering a foursome or supporting the tournament through sponsorship. Many sponsor packages include a foursome and recognition on event signage and the tournament banner.

“More than anything, I would like to encourage anyone in the industry to come out and enjoy a fun tournament that supports CA FFA,” Pate said. “The ALP class of 2026 has really stepped up to put on a great day on the course at Dragonfly, and we would love to see this tournament turn out as a huge success.”
